Introduction
A digital signal processor or DSP is a specialized microprocessor designed specifically for digital signal processing, generally in real-time. Digital signal processing can be done on general-purpose microprocessors.
Digital signal processing is the processing methods of signals in a digital representation. Digital signal processing has at least three major subfields: audio signal processing, digital image processing and speech processing.
The algorithms required for digital signal processing are sometimes performed using specialized computers, which make use of specialized microprocessors, DSP. These process signals in real time and are generally purpose-designed ASICs.
